Divorce and other family law matters can be some of the most difficult and uncertain transitions in a person’s life. But going through a major change in your family does not necessarily mean spending months or years fighting in court.
I’m Jenna Williams, a California family law attorney and mediator focused on helping individuals and families navigate divorce and other family law matters with clarity, intention, and as little unnecessary conflict as possible.
My practice is centered on mediation, Collaborative Divorce, and other resolution-focused approaches to family law. I believe you can protect what matters to you, understand your legal rights, and make thoughtful decisions about your future without automatically turning your family’s most personal issues over to the court.
My Approach to Family Law
Before focusing my practice on mediation and Collaborative Divorce, I worked as a litigator. That experience taught me a great deal—not only about the law, but about what prolonged litigation can cost families financially and emotionally. There are circumstances when court intervention is necessary. But I also saw how easily litigation can escalate conflict and make it harder for families to move forward. That experience shaped the way I practice today.
My goal is to help you understand the law and your options so that you can make informed decisions rather than decisions driven by fear, uncertainty, or conflict. Whenever possible, I help clients work toward practical, durable agreements that reflect the realities of their particular family, outside of court.
I strongly believe that being resolution-oriented does not mean giving up your voice or your interests. You can approach divorce with respect and still advocate for what matters to you.
Jenna’s Experience in Family Law and Conflict Resolution
I earned my J.D. from Pepperdine School of Law and have been a member of the State Bar of California since 2013. I completed Collaborative Family Law training with the Los Angeles Collaborative Family Law Association, as well as mediation and conflict resolution training through The Center for Understanding in Conflict. I am also a member of Collaborative Practice East Bay, a community of attorneys, financial professionals, mental health professionals, and other practitioners committed to helping families resolve disputes outside of traditional litigation.
My background in both litigation and alternative dispute resolution allows me to help clients understand not only what the law provides, but also the different ways a family law matter can be resolved outside of a courtroom. My practice focuses exclusively on Mediation, settlement-focused legal consulting services, and Collaborative Divorce.
A Focus on Resolution
There is no single right way to get divorced.
For some couples, divorce mediation provides the right structure. As a mediator, I serve as a neutral third party and help both spouses identify the decisions that need to be made, exchange necessary information, have productive conversations, and work toward a comprehensive agreement.
For others, Collaborative Divorce provides additional support. Each spouse has their own collaboratively trained attorney, while the parties commit to resolving their case outside of court and may work with neutral financial or family professionals when helpful.
I also represent and advise individual clients as a consulting or limited-scope attorney, which may be a good fit for those who want legal guidance while negotiating directly, participating in mediation, or resolving a particular family law issue.
The goal is to find a process that fits your family—not force your family into a process that doesn’t.
Family Law Services
I work with clients on a range of family law matters, including:
Divorce and legal separation
Child custody and parenting plans
Premarital agreements
Post-marital agreements
Mediation
Collaborative Divorce
Consulting and limited-scope legal representation
Every family has different circumstances and priorities. I offer several service options, including full-service representation, limited-scope legal services, mediation, and virtual services, so you can select the type of legal support that fits your needs.
A Personalized Path Forward
A divorce is a legal process, but it is also a major life transition. The decisions you make can affect your finances, your children, your relationships, and what your life looks like after the legal process is over.
My role is to help you understand those decisions, give you clear and thoughtful legal guidance, and create a process in which you can move toward resolution with greater confidence and clarity.
You do not have to approach family law as a battle in order to take your future seriously.
