U.S. News and World Report: Why an Uncontested Divorce Makes Financial Sense
I spoke with U.S. News & World Report regarding advice for parties looking to settle the terms of their divorce outside of court.
One piece of advice: parties should take time to fully educate themselves about the financial realities of their uncoupling. "When parties do their [financial] homework – in this instance, forecasting income and expenses and appropriately budgeting, and know the minimum they need to be OK – they are coming to the negotiation with a firmer stance and able to know the limits of what they are willing to agree to . . . This makes the negotiation less contentious as well."
